Globetrotting serial killer Frederick Deeming murdered his wife and four children before fleeing to Australia and killing again. Dubbed “The Criminal of the Century”, he would also become one of the most intriguing suspects in the Jack the Ripper murders.
Deeming was a conman, thief and murderer who committed crimes across the globe, including spending several years living and working as a gas fitter around Darlinghurst. While his connection to the Jack the Ripper murders has long been debated, there are striking similarities between the crimes and evidence that may place him in Whitechapel at the time of the 1888 murders.
