Sunday History Talks: Arthur “Neddy” Smith

There have been a few Mr Bigs of crime in Sydney’s criminal history - but few match the appalling deeds, and physical presence of Arthur “Neddy” Smith.

“Neddy’ was a violent criminal, a murderer, a rapist, an armed robber - famous for being the beneficiary of Roger Rogerson’s ‘Green Light’ to commit robberies, and at one point, purportedly the nation’s biggest heroin dealer. As a teen, he was a pimp in King Cross - a place that would feature in his later career. Smith was also one of the reasons that prompted Rogerson’s fall into notoriety & police corruption through his whistleblowing and evidence to the Wood Royal Commission and ICAC.

Smith died in prison while serving a life sentence in 2021.

Join Brandon and Duncan as they dig into the life one of our most notorious criminal kingpins.
